☞ Richard and The Bieber
The 83rd annual Academy Award nominations were announced earlier this week, and there’s been a burglary.
Which is to say, Daft Punk has been robbed.
Which is to say, Daft Punk’s soundtrack for Tron Legacy should have been nominated for Best Original Score.
This, of course, is my opinion, and since I am not a member of The Academy, I don’t have any say in the matter. But of the...

Or “HyperText Markup Lebowski,” if you’re not into the whole brevity thing.
Undercity →
Speaking of the underground, here’s a short (27 minute) documentary of underground New York. I’m not so sure about this Andrew Wonder character (if that even is his name!), but there’s some awesome stuff going on down there. He’s doing it so we don’t have to.
☞ Under-Underground. Then Under That.
For all the bitching New Yorkers do about the City being poorly run, it’s kind of amazing that it works as well as it does. For all the times when the trains aren’t running on schedule, or the snow isn’t being plowed, or the power flakes out, or there’s a subway/cabbie/garbage strike, 99% of the time everything just works as it should.
Okay, maybe not 99% of the time, but,...
The Dream of the 90s →
I’ve only spent approximately 72 hours total in Portland, but this seems about right. [via]

We have to go deeper. All the way to Taco Town. [via]

☞ Blimie! Hear Be Dragons!
There was a point not too long ago where a man stopped being judged by the size of his speakers. Instead it became what he did with his speakers that mattered.
This is not a metaphor.
The opening sequence of Back To The Future is a perfect example of this earlier bigger-is-better mentality. After watching Doc Brown’s elaborate dog food dispenser do its thing, Marty shows up and plugs his...
GTA IV, Minus Friction →
I’m not sure what it says about me that I find this video so entertaining, but I do. Just when you think Niko is going to not get hit by a car, he does.
Also: kind of amazing that the GTA IV physics engine is so precise that a flying car can knock a cell phone out of character’s hand, but the character remains untouched.
Pink Ponies: A Case Study →
Awesomely spot-on case study parody. Or is it?
☞ The Adventures of Batman and Meatface
Recently I was having a discussion about food with a few guys. It was a manly discussion over a manly meal. There was alcohol and a variety of meats involved. Guacamole was being scooped out of a stone guacamole… thing.
What’s that?
Okay, I’m being told the “guacamole… thing” is called a “molcajete” and is typically carved out of volcanic rock,...
Stereo Stack →
Totally random, but totally cool. So much good stuff. I was hoping for more Nipper, but I’ll take what I can get. Also, what’s up with Valiant boasting its “dynamic monaural long playing.” This isn’t Monostack.com, grandpa, this is Stereostack.com! [via]
Japanese Promo for 30 Rock →
Fascinating. I was hoping for some shots of James Franco and his Japanese body pillow. You know, Komiko. They might not even air that episode in Japan, though. Too close to home. [via]
